MT: Thoughts from Jesse Perez

Jesse Perez is a freshman this year at Judson University and a member of the men's tennis teams. Below are his thoughts on the new season and Judson University.

As for this tennis season, I am looking forward to it more than any of my previous seasons BY FAR. Reasons provoking this is that: this has been an amazing time getting to know all of the new players, and further my relationships with the older guys. Another reason that this season will be amazing is because all of us are learning from each other in aspects that go much farther than the tennis courts. I feel as though we are actually starting to grow as a team as well as individually. I'm also looking forward to finding out all of coach Steuber's lefty tricks, considering that I am lefty too!

When it comes to being part of a team that has been dismembered for more than a decade, it is always awesome to be a part of history. Especially when it comes to Judson. Though we have a lot to live up to, I believe the next four years of Judson will prove that re-starting the team was one of the smartest moves administration could have made. We have about three BEASTLY veterans coming in from ECC this fall (one more during the spring season) and four outstanding freshmen including myself; all more than willing to bring home a conference championship home in the near future.

Being a student at Judson has been all and more than I expected. I have met great people on and off the courts. These people range from students to various professors, and Judson faculty in general. It has also been an amazing journey for me academically. Overall, this semester (already) has proven to be challenging as well as compelling, intriguing, and fun. I have made many mistakes in my life, but choosing to become a Judson Eagle STUDENT-athlete was most defiantly not one of them. I am happy to be here, and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for me.
