MTennis Diary: Westhauser's Thoughts

Adam Westhauser is a freshman on the first men's tennis team in over 10 years. Below are his thoughts on the new season, being a part of the new team, and about Judson University.

I am really optimistic for this season now getting to meet all of my teammates and working together in practice and seeing all the talent and depth we have, I hope this new season will be a memorable one for all of us. We all have chances to do well in whatever spot we will play in, and seeing how we have worked in practice I know our players are going to show up and play some great tennis.

Just playing at Judson for me is special. I was looking for a D. III college maybe to play at, but doors kept closing and I knew God had a different plan for me. Then out of nowhere Coach Steuber contacted me and Judson University was exactly what I was looking for. After getting to know the coaches and their history at Judson and talking to former players I am proud to wear my tennis uniform knowing I am representing God, Judson University, my teammates, and myself every time I step on the courts. It is such a special thing and I have been pushing myself to do the best I can.

Being a student at Judson is also a great thing. I had been looking for a small Christian university and when many of my options were turned down I was looking into other options, but Judson was what I was looking for and what God had for me. Judson is such a welcoming school. The professors, students, and people around campus just give this community a sense of belonging. I know I belong here. I wanted to go to college ever since I was in elementary school, but my ideas of it have changed since then but it is still goal for myself to do well and succeed here at Judson and after the first month or so I know I have every opportunity to succeed at whatever I put myself to.
